Configurable, low-code CAPA module on the AssurX Enterprise QMS platform (cloud or on-premise) that automates the closed-loop CAPA lifecycle — intake, investigation, action plan, effectiveness check, and closure — for regulated industries.
AssurX CAPA Management is a configurable, low-code CAPA module delivered on the AssurX Enterprise Quality Management Software (EQMS) platform — historically known as CATSWeb (Corrective Action Tracking System). It is offered as multi-tenant SaaS, dedicated single-tenant cloud, or on-premise on a single code base, allowing customers to migrate between deployment modes without re-platforming. AssurX, Inc. was founded in 1993, launched its web-native QMS in March 2000, is privately held, fully remote, and reports approximately 75 employees.
The CAPA module was the platform's original application. It supports CAPA initiation from any other AssurX intake — audit findings, deviations, complaints, nonconformances, supplier defects, risk assessments, incidents — and shares one schema, one audit-trail engine, and one electronic-signature service with sibling modules: Audit Management, Complaint Handling, Change Control, Document Management, Training, Supplier Quality, Risk Management, Calibration, EHS Incident, and Validation Management.
Business analysts can author and modify workflows without code. AssurX offers a concurrent-licence commercial model for organisations with transient or occasional quality users, alongside dual on-premise/cloud delivery on a single code base. Workflows ship pre-mapped to 21 CFR Part 210, 211, 11, 820, ICH Q9 and ICH Q10. AssurX does not market a separately-branded pharma SKU; pharma deployments use the same configurable platform under the "Pharmaceutical & Biotech" industry vertical.
AssurX is hosted at Switch's Tier 5 data center (Las Vegas) on a private cloud rather than a hyperscaler. The platform is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified by A-LIGN, SOC 2 attested, HIPAA-BAA-capable, Annex 11 aligned, and uses 256-bit AES encryption. Native AI in CAPA RCA and effectiveness-check evaluation is on the roadmap, not GA; the GA AI footprint today comprises a Chatbase-powered in-product help assistant and a 3Analytics partnership delivering AI-driven IMDRF coding on the complaint side that flows into CAPA.
AssurX is offered as (a) AssurX Cloud QMS — vendor-operated multi-tenant SaaS with private customer-dedicated databases on the back end; (b) dedicated single-tenant cloud with dedicated hardware and bandwidth at extra cost; (c) on-premise install on customer infrastructure; with cloud-to-on-premise migration supported on the same code base. Hosting is at Switch's Tier 5 data center (Las Vegas) with 2N+1 redundancy and a vendor-claimed 99.99% uptime — AssurX does not use AWS, Azure, or GCP. EU data residency is undisclosed. Browser-based access (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) with responsive UI for mobile/tablet; no native iOS/Android app advertised. SSO via SAML is confirmed in customer deployments.
The vendor advertises a "robust, flexible open interface (API)" with confirmed production integrations to SAP ERP, Salesforce, Oracle, and PTC Windchill, and capability statements for LIMS and MES. REST/GraphQL specifics, rate limits, SDK languages, and webhook event catalogues are undisclosed. Native support for FDA MedWatch, FDA eMDR, EU MIR, IMDRF coding (via the 3Analytics partnership), Excel/CSV import, and NIST traceability standards (calibration). 256-bit AES encryption in transit and at rest.
No public price list. GetApp lists a starting price of $50,000 per year; SelectHub characterises pricing as starting in the range of $1,000 or more; enterprise pricing is quote-based. Subscription pricing applies to cloud, with a perpetual licence plus maintenance for on-premise. Licence types include concurrent, named, or mixed; concurrent licensing is highlighted by long-term customers as a material TCO advantage for transient quality users.
The primary sales motion is a live demo with a sales engineer ("Request a Demo"). On-demand recorded CAPA demos are available. Free-trial duration is undisclosed. Reported deal sizes range from roughly $50K to $500K+ annual subscription depending on user volume and module breadth, with anchor customers including Sanofi, Abbott, Cytiva, Recipharm, Bausch + Lomb, and Servier. Setup fees and minimum-seat thresholds are quote-based.
AssurX does not publish a standard implementation calendar. Public case studies and reviews suggest a single-module CAPA go-live for a small/mid biotech (≤500 users, single site) takes 3–6 months; multi-module global rollouts are described as multi-quarter to multi-year. One pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturer case study cites over 400 users in production within two weeks of deployment for an initial rollout. AssurX delivers all professional services in-house and does not outsource implementation, project management, integration, validation, support, or training.
Implementation, integration, data migration, validation services, AutoValidator licensing, and training are scoped separately from the subscription. Excel/CSV import is native and the vendor supports migration off other QMS systems via assessment, schema mapping, and pilot validation. Reviewers warn that the platform's flexibility can produce inconsistent workflows without internal naming conventions and that administrator documentation is light, often requiring vendor consulting. The refreshed user interface has improved on legacy CATSWeb click-depth, per recent reviews.
Anonymous feedback from pharmaceutical professionals using this solution
4.7 out of 5
Based on 13 verified reviews
Users report strong praise for the configurability and low-code workflow design — quality administrators can adapt the platform to company-specific processes without vendor change orders, and reviewers credit the move off paper to the ease of configuration. Customer support scores 9.3/10 on G2, with reviewers describing a stable, dedicated support team rather than rotating outsourced agents. Reviewers also praise the pre-configured solutions and validation packages, and the FDA MedWatch integration in the Complaints module that feeds CAPA, described by one reviewer as making reporting to the FDA "orders of magnitude simpler."
Users report dissatisfaction with interface complexity and click depth in the legacy CATSWeb UI ("no good flow… had to click so many times… searching was terrible"), although the refreshed interface is reported to have improved usability. Administrator-side documentation is described as light, leading to a steep learning curve and reliance on consulting services. Pricing structure becomes less attractive as user licenses scale. A minority of reviewers cite occasional system instability with intermittent errors and timeouts, and integration with non-AssurX systems is sometimes described as "clunky" with limited programming options.
