On-premises Enterprise Quality Management System (EQMS) with integrated modules for CAPA, change control, document management, training, audits, complaints, and nonconformance management.
TrackWise (vendor-branded "Honeywell TrackWise On-Premises QMS") is an on-premise J2EE / Oracle-database enterprise QMS originated at Sparta Systems (founded 1994). Honeywell acquired Sparta on December 22, 2020 for $1.3B all-cash. Sparta now sits inside Honeywell Life Sciences within Honeywell's Industrial Automation segment. At acquisition Sparta reported 400+ customers including 42 of the top 50 pharma and 33 of the top 50 medtech firms.
Core modules cover CAPA, deviation / non-conformance, change control, audit management, complaint handling, supplier quality, regulatory reporting, plus QualityView (analytics), QualityConnect (SOAP and REST web services with SAML SSO), TrackWise Mobile, and Quality Process Accelerators (pre-built workflow templates). Native document management relies on third-party integration, typically Documentum or SharePoint, rather than a full built-in module. Training is commonly delivered through UL ComplianceWire or an external LMS.
Honeywell sells two technologically separate QMS products: traditional on-prem TrackWise (this profile) and TrackWise Digital, a Salesforce-Lightning / AWS multi-tenant cloud QMS. AI features (auto-categorization, auto-summarization, Root Cause Advisor under QualityWise.ai) are delivered only via TrackWise Digital. In January 2025 Honeywell launched the TrackWise Life Sciences Platform unifying TrackWise Quality with a new TrackWise Manufacturing (MES) module on Honeywell Aptica.
Traditional TrackWise is validation-ready, not pre-validated: GAMP 5 Category 4 (configurable), with IQ/OQ/PQ scripting, RTM, and test execution borne by the customer or an SI partner (Techsol, Navitas, Zamann, Rephine, Clarkston). TrackWise Digital, by contrast, ships an executed standard validation package per release. Honeywell completed the Solstice Advanced Materials spin-off on 2025-10-30. The planned Aerospace separation is scheduled for H2 2026, with TrackWise staying inside the Automation entity.
Traditional TrackWise is a web-deployed J2EE / Java EE 3-tier application with an Oracle database back-end, installed on customer-owned infrastructure or a customer-managed cloud VPC (AWS lift-and-shift via SI partners is a common pattern). Access is browser-based with iOS/Android/iPad mobile clients. SSO uses SAML 2.0 federation via TrackWise QualityConnect; OIDC, AzureAD-native, and Okta-native flows are undocumented.
API surface is delivered by TrackWise QualityConnect: SOAP web services (inbound/outbound) plus a REST API set added in TrackWise 9. Named integrations include SAP, Oracle, CRM, LIMS, and MES. GraphQL is not supported and webhooks/SDK/rate limits are undocumented. Cloud-equivalent functionality is delivered through the separate TrackWise Digital product (Salesforce Lightning / AWS, multi-tenant at platform / single-tenant at data layer). Honeywell aggregate scale figures historically cite ~1M users across 700+ implementations in 30+ countries.
SelectHub publishes a starting figure of $200 per user per month, a directional list-price floor rather than a TrackWise-published rate. Enterprise pricing is negotiated and unpublished, and the vendor offers no public price list, tiers, or per-module rates. Pricing is reported as subscription-based (annual or multi-year) under Honeywell, driven by user count, number of processes/modules, and deployment type. TrackWise was historically sold as perpetual on-prem with annual maintenance.
No free trial is publicly offered for traditional TrackWise. Demos are scheduled via vendor sales. Implementation, validation support, and training are priced separately. Industry-analyst figures place enterprise QMS pricing in a band from low five figures per year for niche tools to low seven figures for enterprise-wide suites. TrackWise-specific deal sizes are undisclosed.
The fastest documented implementation is EMA's four-month single-agency deployment. A Capterra reviewer described the slowest, a 5-year programme at a multi-site customer that absorbed multiple major upgrades with interface re-design and deployment delays. Realistic multi-site, multi-module global pharma rollouts plan for 18–36+ months.
Implementation services are priced separately (Honeywell Professional Services or named SI partners: Techsol, Navitas, Zamann, Rephine, Clarkston). Sparta Training Academy provides paid administrator/user training in NA and EMEA. Reviewers consistently flag training as "extensive and very expensive" with a steep learning curve. Common pitfalls: heavy customisation debt that compounds upgrade and validation cost, DMS/TMS gaps requiring Documentum/SharePoint and external LMS, upgrade-induced rework on validated workflows, and multi-vendor compliance scope.

G2 users rate TrackWise 9.6 on CAPA, 9.3 on Document Control, and 9.3 on Change Management. Reviewers cite breadth and configurability, family-tree linkage of related records (deviation -> CAPA -> effectiveness check), and durability for highly regulated environments; many describe around 15 years of stable production use without data integrity gaps. SGS uses TrackWise Digital to support 400+ audits/year across 17 sites with 25,000+ items digitized.
Reviewers describe the interface as "convoluted and difficult to navigate even for experienced users", and error correction often requires admin intervention to re-open records, causing delays. SelectHub flags the cost-and-complexity profile as "potentially cost-prohibitive" for SMB buyers. Administrator training is "extensive and very expensive" with a steep learning curve, and G2 reviewers note "poor customer support" and a lack of online customer community. Document management requires Documentum or SharePoint integration, creating multi-vendor compliance scope, and upgrade-induced rework is well documented: a 5-year customer cycle with multiple major upgrades requiring UI and interface re-design.
