Cloud-based SaaS validation lifecycle management system for GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing. AI-enabled platform managing CSV, CSA, and CQV processes with automated test execution and real-time validation.
ValGenesis VLMS is a single-tenant, vendor-managed validated SaaS digital validation platform from ValGenesis, Inc. (founded 2005, Santa Clara, CA; backed by Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital with a July 2025 $16M Bridge Bank facility). The original VLMS won the Parenteral Drug Association New Innovative Technology Award in 2005 and reached version 5.0 in 2024 with the VAL AI assistant launched at INTERPHEX 2025.
VLMS sits inside the Validation Lifecycle Suite (alongside iVal, iClean, iOps) under the corporate Smart GxP brand. A sibling Process Lifecycle Suite contains iCMC (formerly iRisk) for QbD/CMC and iCPV (formerly iSEE) for continued process verification — both acquired through the 2022 4Tune Engineering acquisition. The platform digitizes the end-to-end CSV/CSA, commissioning and qualification, equipment, cleaning, method, and process-validation lifecycle.
Vendor-disclosed scale: 30 of the top 50 global life sciences companies, 35,000+ GxP systems under management, 300+ sites, deployments in 30+ countries. Named pharma customers include Bayer (15-year customer, 26+ sites, 4,000 users, 22,000 entities, 42,000 executed test cases), GSK Vaccines, Roche (Singapore-led global digital transformation), Boehringer Ingelheim, CSL Behring, Otsuka, MilliporeSigma (97-day rollout at Carlsbad), Catalent, and Rottendorf Pharma.
VLMS Express is a rapid-deploy sub-30-day cloud edition for mid-market and capital projects. The vendor markets the production environment as a "validated private secured Cloud", continuously validated by ValGenesis with regression artifacts shipped per release.
ValGenesis VLMS is pharma-exclusive. The entire product is purpose-built for GMP-regulated pharmaceutical and biotechnology validation. Built for FDA CSA guidance, supports 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, PIC/S, ISPE GAMP 5, and ASTM standards. Designed specifically for validating pharmaceutical manufacturing systems.
Delivered as a single-tenant, vendor-managed SaaS in what ValGenesis terms a "validated private secured Cloud." Public materials do not specify whether the underlying IaaS is AWS, Azure, or GCP. No on-premise option is marketed today; legacy on-premise deployments existed but are de-emphasised in 5.0+ messaging. Specific cloud provider, region list, and sovereign-cloud options (EU, China, India, FedRAMP/GovCloud) are undisclosed publicly, available only under NDA.
Access is via modern browser plus native iOS, iPad, and Android mobile apps for execution and offline data capture. SSO is supported but specific protocols (SAML 2.0, OIDC, Azure AD/Entra ID, Okta) are not enumerated on public product pages. An API exists; REST/GraphQL/webhook posture, rate limits, and SDKs are not publicly documented. Pre-built connectors are claimed for LIMS, MES, ERP/SAP, and QMS generically — named connectors to specific systems (Werum/Körber PAS-X, LabWare, Veeva Vault, MasterControl, TrackWise) are not enumerated; customers integrate to SAP via SAP QM-IDI / RFC pathways at their own expense. Direct instrument integration via RS-232 and TCP/IP for raw data capture into protocols.
No public price list is published for any edition. GetApp states "Please contact ValGenesis for pricing details"; no starting price is published and no free trial is documented. Pricing is subscription (SaaS), enterprise-licence-oriented and modular, scaling with users, sites, and modules turned on (VLMS core, iVal, iClean, iOps, iCMC, iCPV). VLMS Express is the only edition with published "fast deploy" packaging. Demos are available on request via the "Book a demo" call to action.
No vendor- or customer-disclosed deal-size figures are published. Third-party commentary (2023) characterised ValGenesis as operating at a small loss; ValGenesis disputes this, citing self-disclosed FY2022 revenue growth of 68% year on year and a 23% operating margin. Implementation, validation services, and training are priced separately, and minimum commitments, setup fees, and validation-support fees are undisclosed.
Vendor-published rollouts range from 97 days to multi-year, top-20-pharma-scale programmes. Fast implementations include Scigeniq's 3-month rollout (March 2025), MilliporeSigma's 97-day full-suite rollout at the Carlsbad site, and Noven Pharmaceuticals' rapid CSV rollout for an ERP upgrade. At top-20 enterprises, Bayer took 15 years to reach 26+ sites and GSK ran a multi-year vaccines rollout, both phased, multi-year programmes at that scale. Typical duration by customer scale: 3-6 months for a single-site biotech/CDMO, 9-18 months for a mid-cap multi-site rollout, 3+ years for a global top-20 enterprise.
Implementation services and validation support are sold separately from licence. ValGenesis University delivers role-based eLearning, self-paced and instructor-led training, and certification. Named SI partners include CAI (July 2025 strategic partnership), Performance Validation, Rephine (hosts a CoE VLMS instance), Scigeniq, EIS, GMP Pros, Medhini, ZeeDimension (Middle East), and Hitachi Industry & Control Solutions (Japan). Big-4 SI partnerships — Accenture, Deloitte, IPS, Cognizant, ProPharma — are not publicly named. Excel/CSV import is standard, PDF ingestion for vendor-supplied documents is supported in 5.0, and legacy-system migration is services-led, not productised. Third-party commentary describes the workflow model as resource-intensive to roll out at enterprise scale and "data-centric, form-driven," with a steeper learning curve and less customisation flexibility.
PharmaSpotter assessment from published vendor and third-party sources. No user reviews are on file for this product.
Capterra users report measurable validation-cycle-time reduction, 50-70% across reviewers and case studies, audit-ready outputs that FDA investigators recognise, elimination of handwriting and date-attribution errors, and enterprise-scale deployment evidenced by Bayer's 4,000 users. Direct user excerpts: "after implementing Valgenesis in 2019, the observations went down by over 90%"; "reduced validation time by 70%, no preparation for audits"; "in the past 2 years, there was no observation with our validation program." Customer testimonial: "I hosted an FDA inspection at my former company. Seeing the outputs the ValGenesis system provided sold me on the solution. The two FDA investigators conducting the inspection were familiar with ValGenesis and liked the system."
Comprehensive scope lengthens setup time at small companies. The help system was weak before version 5.0. Cost is a concern for small organisations. Third-party commentary describes the workflow model as "data-centric, form-driven," with less customisation flexibility and a steeper learning curve. Gartner Peer Insights shows no reviews at time of access, and the G2 review count is modest for an enterprise customer base.
